What is
JLW file format?
JLW is a proprietary sound format. It integrates the sound data and control program into a single file. The file size is very compact. For 50 seconds of sound, the file size is only 256KB. It is best to convert popular songs into JLW format and upload on a homepage for download. As the file size is small, the users can download the songs very fast. Also the Writer can record JLW file directly without any pre-processing, it saves time. On the other hand, based on JLW format, we can program multi-message, sequential playback sounds. After recoding into the Clock or Bear, it will play several different sounds.

Windows PCM(.wav) file format?
A WAV file is an audio file format that has become a standard Windows audio file format for everything from system and game sounds to CD-quality audio. A Wave file is identified by a file name extension of
Windows PCM(.wav). Windows general system sounds are
Windows PCM(.wav) files. When you use the Recorder program to record sounds through a Microphone, the recorded sounds will be saved as a
Windows PCM(.wav) file.

How to record my own voice message into
MP3 device?

Please prepare a microphone then connect to the microphone port of your PC (mostly on the sound card).

Run the "Sound Recorder" program (Start - Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Sound Recorder). The dialog shows.

Click the "Record" button (round-red button on the right side of the dialog) and start speaking to the microphone. Please note the green horizontal line on the dialog will start vibrating. (If not, please see section F below.) Once complete, click the "Stop" button ( square-black one next to record button) to stop.

To save the voice just recorded, please choose "File" then "Save" from the command line of the dialog. Then the "Save As" dialog shows. Change the "Save In" field to ready "Desktop", type the file name, then press "Save". It saves the sound just recorded as a
Windows PCM(.wav) file on the desktop of your PC.

Run the program " Writer". In the dialog box, click the "Record " button. Choose the
Windows PCM(.wav) file just saved then press "Open". It starts recording your own sound into
MP3 device.

If the green horizontal line does not vibrate while speaking to the microphone, please check if the microphone function is enabled and adjust the volume level properly. To enable the microphone, please run the "Volume Control" program (Start, Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Volume Control). On the command line of "Volume Control" dialog, choose "Options", "Properties". Then the "Properties" dialog shows. Below the "Adjust Volume For", select "Recording" and check the box of "Microphone" to enable it. Then press "OK" the "Recording Control" dialog shows. You may adjust the volume of microphone in this dialog. But don't check Mute.

How to record my favorite section of a song into MP3
device?

As
MP3 Device can record only 50-second of sound, you may want to extract the favorite 50 seconds from your music CD
(.cda) or mp3PROR (.mp3) files then record into
MP3 device.

Run the program " Writer". In the dialog box, click the "Record" button. Choose the

Troubleshooting
(For
model
number: MS-092, MS-188, MS-288, MS-388, MS-629, MS-7020, MS-3300,

Whenever you have problems about the MP3
device, please follow the troubleshooting procedures below:
1. After download, please double click the file (diy.exe)
or (doorbell.exe) to start installation. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation of the
DIY Writer program onto your computer.
2. Restart your PC.
3. Please do NOT connect the clock to PC until the software installation is done.
4. Take off batteries. Make sure all the batteries are in good condition. Also the +/- polarity is correct. Reinstall batteries.
5. Run the " DIY Writer" software and try record a sound into the MP3 device.
6.
After download is complete, disconnect the cable from the
MP3 device.. This is a must.

This could caused by mistake operation from user sometimes. If you received any message "
some data mismatch ",

8. By clicking Scan Hardware on the left hand side one light touch, and scanning from 1 to 5 when
color turns from gray back to black, and showed Fixed ok, it is done, it will format the entire memory to
zero, after this step, you can start
record sound again into the mp3 device.

If it does not sound, take off all the batteries, make sure they are good, reinstall batteries, watch the polarity carefully. Then
turn on the switch again. If it still does not sound, please record
again.
